Title:
EiffelVision for Mac OS X

Supervising Assistant:
Benjamin Morandi

Description

EiffelVision (EV) is an object-oriented framework for graphical user interface (GUI) development, created by Eiffel Software. EV is the main GUI toolkit for Eiffel and its major application is EiffelStudio. EiffelVision is portable and currently runs on Windows and all major versions of Unix (using GTK+), but a native version for Mac OS X has not been implemented so far.

The goal of this project is to create the missing native port of EiffelVision for Mac OS X (Cocoa framework). This involves the implementation of over 170 Eiffel classes to map from EiffelVision widgets and other abstractions to their equivalents in Cocoa. Although Cocoa is an object-oriented framework as well, the complexity of this mapping may be non-trivial, as different forms of organization exist in the two layers. Since Cocoa is written in Objective-C a good way of bridging between those two worlds will be needed in addition.
