Testat: Programming Capability Test
The aim of the test is to assess:
The test will be pen-and-paper; make sure you have a pen as for an exam. In general the rules are the same as for an exam -- no materials available, no computers, cell phones etc. The test will take 90 minutes (14:30-16:00, IFW A36) on Feb 17 without a break. We are starting at 14:30 to give you time to set down; plan to arrive at 14:15 as usual.
The test will be corrected but will not affect your course grade (which as usual will come from the course exam). For any major and justified impediment (illness, military service) please contact your assistant, or if you do not know yet who your assistant will be, Yi (Jason) Wei, the head assistant, Yi.Wei@inf.ethz.ch.
The test is programming-language-independent, but most of the questions involve writing a program element. Since the goal is to assess knowledge acquired at ETH, the programming answers must use Eiffel. If you are joining from another university (and in that case only) you will be permitted to write the answers in the language that you were taught (if it's one of the major languages), but you must write to Jason ahead of the exam to arrange for this.
The test consists of a number of programming exercises of varying difficulty, intended to assess general programming ability.
Exam
The exam will be written and will take place during the last lecture of the semester. No supplementary material is allowed except for dictionaries.
Previous Software Architecture exams:You can use the forum to ask course- and exercise-related questions. The assistants will do their best to answer your questions as soon as possible. Click here to access the forum!.
The forum is not maintained by us, but by the Verein der Informatik Studierenden.
